Europe is calling...

I have to admit that I have always been a fan of Europe...my husband (he is half Polish and half Swedish), French food, classical music (especially Beethoven), Italian coffee, Foreign Films, the list could go on. Now I have become mesmerized at the notion that my husband and I might visit next year for our 5 year anniversary.

Now Europe is a big place with lots of cities to choose from. Paris was my initial first choice. Then I looked at Prague, my husband does not want to go to Italy so those cities were out, Barcelona was on the radar, but we finally settled on Vienna!

Why Vienna...why not? It has royal palaces, Cafe's everywhere (I adore coffee), the Spanish Riding School (home of the royal Lippazzaner Stallions), Beethoven spent most of his life in this city, Mozart, Strauss, Museums, The Vienna Boys Choir, Baroque Cathedrals, and the Sachertorte was invinted here!

If you have been to Vienna please give me some feedback.

If you think I should visit another area please let me know where and why?

I am enjoying myself with a romp through blogs I wanted to visit for a long time, :-)
Needless to remind you that I do live in Vienna, but from all I have heard from friends who know Paris, Vienna seems to be much more affordable. If you take a cappuccino, rarely does it cost more than 3 Euros (at Demel's it's 3.60, yes) and you can sit as long as you want and get it served in a porcelain cup! :-)
Diglas serve splendid food from a lunch menue with 5 choices, 11 to 12.5o euros, really good value (same quality of good in a restaurant and you'd be out of at least 5 euros more).
I would consider Venice,
it's only a six hour train ride from Vienna and something so beautiful and different.
Book early for hotels, the well priced ones go fast.

Excellent choice! I split my time between Vienna and Salzburg and love both cities, although Vienna is a little bit more exciting since it is much bigger. Depending on how long your trip will be, you could even combine it with Prague, since it is only a couple of hours away.
